After leaving New York City 15 years ago to teach full-time and expand her artistic vision globally, Elizabeth Zans's work has been fundamentally reshaped by living across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Her journey has taken her to Pristina, Tarsus, Jakarta, Nairobi, Cairo, Casablanca, and Ouagadougou. Witnessing monumental history firsthand, from the aftermath of the Kosovo genocide and surviving a terrorist attack in Nairobi to living through the Arab Spring in Cairo and navigating ongoing security crises in Burkina Faso, has profoundly influenced her perspective, resilience, and creative practice.
